Vision supports Charity House again in 2020

Monday, 30 November 2020

For the 8th consecutive year, Vision supported the Otago Polytech Charity House. The project is a win-win-win as a hands-on project for Otago Polytechnic carpentry students, an affordable, fully furnished home for the new owners, and a significant benefit to Otago-based nonprofit organisations. Around $100,000 of the proceeds are donated to United Way which will distribute funds to local charities.

As in previous years, the Vision team proudly supported the charity home, installing an audio-visual system worth more than $5,000 free of charge. The home's new owners will be able to watch their favourite movies or music with the home entertainment setup consisting of a 55” Panasonic 4K wall-mounted smart television and a Yamaha MusicCast sound bar with full surround sound abilities. Our team also installed the aerial distribution system and a data outlet in the fourth bedroom which futureproofs the house against technology innovations to come.

Fetching up to $270,000 in previous years, this year's auction saw the toughest bidding yet, achieving the highest selling price of $325,000. The new owners Barry and Karen Rowe were excited to own this new, fully furnished home. They now needed to find a section to relocate it to.

Vision's managing director Glen Stapley says, “Giving back to the community has always been important to us and supporting this project enables us to help a number of local charities provide services to those who need them.”
