FAQ's for Trackside Digital

Is Trackside available on Freeview’s Satellite service?

  • No. Because Trackside is also available via SKY’s digital satellite service, there are no plans to broadcast Trackside on Freeview Satellite at this time. Trackside will be broadcast on Freeview HD which is effectively a like-for-like digital replacement for the existing analogue service.

Why has Trackside gone digital before the rest of the country?

  • The NZ Racing Board’s current analogue transmission equipment is ageing with replacement parts becoming hard acquire. They also want to ensure that their viewers are ready to tune into the digital service before the Government begins switching off the analogue platform. Setting themselves an earlier switchover date means they have ample time to ensure their viewers are ready on a digital platform before it’s too late.

Will Teletext be available on Freeview HD?

  • Yes, Teletext is available on Freeview HD and on SKY Digital.
