Since 2008, many of New Zealand’s main service transmitters (TV1/2/3) have screened selected programmes in (HD) High Definition. In the South Island, Freeview HD is available to homes that can receive UHF aerial signals from the Mount Cargill transmitter in Dunedin, or the Sugarloaf transmitter in Christchurch. This coverage has just recently been extended to now include NELSON, TIMARU & INVERCARGILL

The Goverment has announced that analogue television broadcasts will be progressively switched off between September 2012 and November 2013 therefore a professionally installed HD aerial system is essential for reliable trouble free HD viewing.
