The Vision Showroom & Head Office on Portsmouth Drive, Dunedin, is a ‘One-Stop Shop’ for top quality products, installation and design services for all audio/visual technologies. The company is made up of two working directors, five administration staff, three technical supervisors, and ten installation technicians. Both of our directors and our commercial technical supervisor are trained electronic service technicians, creating Vision’s foundation of technical expertise, knowledge they use to train their installation technicians.

Vision Antenna Systems has evolved into a team of highly skilled audio/visual and reception technology experts, with 18 years’ experience in the industry. The technical savvy origins of the core staff at Vision has also created the foundation and expertise for the business to grow and diversify into one of the South Island’s major providers of new ideas, creative solutions, and technological magic in the realm of integrated sound and vision for all spheres of life.

Vision Electronics came into being in 1991 as a small business in Mosgiel, offering electronic repairs, TV aerial installs and repairs along with radio telephone installations. With the arrival of Sky TV in Dunedin, Vision Electronics set themselves the goal of winning Sky installation tenders for the local region to install Sky’s UHF systems. On achieving this they launched Vision Antenna Systems Ltd in 1994, to service the new wing of the business. Thirteen installation vans were sent on the road in the harsh ’94 winter, with staff and contractors working round the clock to meet the demand for the new buzz in home entertainment technology.

Vision continued working with Sky when they launched New Zealand’s first Pay TV analogue satellite television services in 1997, then through into 1998 as Sky upgraded their satellite service to the new Digital technology (providing the NZ public with unparalleled picture quality and channel options). In 2001, Vision expanded into the Southland region, and in 2002 headed north to service Canterbury from a new office/warehouse based in Christchurch. At each stage, Vision had to grow, employing new staff and a growing crew of contractors. Their original staff members were launched into new roles as public relations specialists and entrepreneurs, but with their feet firmly on the ground they excelled at tuning in to the needs of Otago home and business owners.

In 2005 the Vision team decided to also focus on the domestic audio market, allowing the integration of antenna and entertainment systems in the home. Offering both services for the ultimate goal of home cinema with the best in sound-scaping, Vision moved easily into the installation and design of multi-room audio systems. They now provide this service at the design stage for new homes, bringing their creative drive to the business of making new technology work according to the personalised needs of their clients.

Vision’s technical based knowledge of Digital Television came into its own in 2007 with the Government assisted launch of Freeview, NZ’s Free to Air digital television platform. Drawing from their technical background, Vision understand the requirements of this new technology and are able to shed light on the magic of this new world of digital Home Entertainment with happy customers ensuring Vision maintain their place as market leaders.

Vision’s expertise and working knowledge in the field of new satellite technology was recognised by Satmax, a Christchurch based company importing and programming satellite receiving technology. Vision assisted in the design of a Hi Definition receiver in conjunction with the creation of software for the latest in picture quality.

New on the agenda for Vision is the design and installation of highly specialised audio and visual equipment in the public sector. At present Vision’s team of experts are expanding their combined knowledge into the commercial, sports, hospitality and private business sectors.

Late into 2009 the company underwent their toughest challenge in recent years. A late night fire in their building caused significant damage to part of their building, while the entire office and showroom complex was smoke damaged. Staff were forced to decamp to an office next door, taking the basic functioning systems of the day to day business with them. The company suffered serious setbacks throughout the end of 2009, and were only able to return to their offices in early December .

2010 sees the rise of the Vision phoenix from the ashes. With a fully rebuilt office and a complete refit of their showroom, Vision are set to bring the world of Digital integrated home entertainment to more homes that ever before...
